Uncertainty grows as Cote d’Ivoire opposition leader quits race

Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire –  Cote d’ivories main opposition figure, Tidjane Thiam, has withdrawn from the presidential race and resigned as chair of the Democratic Party of Cote d’Ivoire (PDCI), citing “judicial harassment orchestrated against him and his party.” His exit leaves the country’s oldest political party without a candidate ahead of the October 2025 vote.
