Rwanda battles soaring inflation as food, fuel costs bite

KIGALI, RWANDA – Rwanda’s inflation surged to 8.3% by the end of June 2025 – more than double the average of its East African neighbours – driven by drought-related food shortages, a weakening currency, and increased fuel and tax costs, officials say.
