ABUJA, NIGERIA – Nigeria’s two top oil industry regulators resigned Wednesday after Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote accused them of corruption and sabotaging the country’s energy sector.
Farouk Ahmed, chief executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and Gbenga Komolafe, head of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), stepped down following mounting pressure triggered by Dangote’s public accusations. The government confirmed the resignations in a statement.
