A US-brokered peace accord between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda has raised fresh doubts over whether it can end one of Africa’s longest-running conflicts.

US President Donald Trump looked on as Congolese leader Félix Tshisekedi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame signed the Washington Accord on December 6 in Washington, DC, describing it as a “new beginning” for their countries and the wider Great Lakes region.
