World Bank approves $200 million to help Zambia tackle energy crisis

  • New World Bank funding aims to provide reliable energy to over 1 million Zambians and ease industrial power shortages
  • The ASCENT Zambia project is part of a broader regional initiative to connect 300 million Africans to electricity

 

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – The World Bank has approved a $200 million grant under its International Development Association (IDA) for Zambia to help address the country’s ongoing energy crisis and expand access to clean and sustainable electricity.
