Lagos, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has submitted a ₦1.48 trillion appropriation bill for Rivers State to the National Assembly, bypassing the state legislature amid an ongoing political crisis. The bill, which covers the 2024 fiscal year, marks a rare instance of federal intervention in a subnational budget and follows months of tension between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and factions loyal to former governor Nyesom Wike.
