Senegal–Mauritania offshore gas project set to nearly double LNG output

  • Output expected to almost double next year, operator says
  • Analysts see limited price impact but strategic value for Europe

 

DAKAR, SENEGAL — The Grand Tortue Ahmeyim gas project, jointly developed by Mauritania and Senegal, delivered steady liquefied natural gas output in 2025 and is expected to almost double volumes in 2026, its operator said.

The offshore Kosmos Energy Ltd-operated project, one of West Africa’s most significant energy investments, recorded its first full year of production in 2025, reinforcing its position as a reliable new LNG supplier to global markets.
