Egypt remittances hit record $41.5bn in 2025 as FX reforms pay off

CAIRO, EGYPT – Money sent home by Egyptians abroad soared to a record $41.5bn in 2025, strengthening one of the country’s most reliable sources of foreign currency, the central bank said Monday.

New data from the Central Bank of Egypt showed remittances rose 40.5% from $29.6bn in 2024, marking the highest annual increase ever recorded for official inflows.
