Accra, Ghana – Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has fiercely defended the safety and quality of the nation’s cocoa, following a controversial article that linked Ghana’s beans to heavy metal contamination in Lindt chocolates. The publication, titled Ghana’s Cocoa at Risk: How Lindt’s Lead Scandal Could Spell Disaster for Ghana’s Cocoa, raised alarms about Ghana’s cocoa industry, prompting COCOBOD to refute the claims in a conversation with Allen Dreyfus, and stress the rigorous quality control measures in place.
