ALGIERS, ALGERIA – Algeria has launched construction of a $1.38bn gas-fired power plant, reinforcing its central role in Europe’s shifting energy map while deepening reliance on hydrocarbons.
Last week, Energy Minister Mourad Adjal broke ground on the 1,406-megawatt facility in eastern Algeria. Project authorities say it is critical to meet domestic demand and sustain export ambitions.
