On November 9, 2024, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso’s military regime announced it had foiled an attempt to overthrow the government. According to authorities, an individual was apprehended after allegedly trying to bribe soldiers to stage a coup d’état, using 5 billion CFA francs ($10 million USD) to fund the destabilization attempt. The confiscated funds have since been transferred to the public treasury, with the identity of the suspect still undisclosed as investigations continue.
