- Trade gap widens as imports hit $522 million
- Diamonds dominate exports despite copper gains
GABORONE, BOTSWANA – Botswana’s trade balance slid into a $141 million deficit in September 2025 after imports jumped to $522 million while exports fell to $381 million, according to official data.
Figures released by Statistics Botswana show the downturn was driven by weaker export earnings and heavy import demand for machinery, fuel and food.
