African airlines outpaced global air cargo growth in 2025, even as the continent remained a marginal player in a rapidly expanding global aviation trade system, industry data show.

As global air cargo volumes hit record highs last year, Africa emerged as one of the fastest-growing regions, defying its small share of total traffic and underlining the continent’s growing role in time-sensitive trade.
