ACCRA, GHANA – Remittances from the United Kingdom remain vital to Ghana’s economy but are losing momentum, prompting the central bank to push for urgent policy reforms to channel diaspora funds into productive investment.

New data from the Bank of Ghana (BoG) show that remittances from the UK accounted for about 17.5% of total inflows between January and September 2025, down sharply from roughly 28% over the same period in 2024.
