  • Ghana formally legalises cryptocurrencies and virtual asset services
  • SEC and Bank of Ghana to regulate and license digital asset providers

 

ACCRA, GHANAGhana has legalised cryptocurrencies and virtual asset services after President John Dramani Mahama signed the Virtual Asset Service Providers Bill into law.

Ghana’s new Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) Act formally brings the use, trading and provision of services related to virtual assets – including cryptocurrencies – under a clear legal and regulatory framework, a move expected to reshape the country’s financial system.
