  • Project targets China’s dominance over polysilicon used in solar supply chains

 

The United States has approved financing support for an $870mn polysilicon project in Morocco, underscoring a strategic push to diversify solar and semiconductor supply chains away from China.

The project, led by Morocco’s Sondiale SA, has received a $4.75mn pre-investment grant from the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and could eventually draw up to $550mn in American-backed financing, signalling deepening US involvement.
