- EU clears Uganda for farmed fish exports

KAMPALA, UGANDA – The European Union has cleared Uganda to export farmed finfish, including tilapia, to the 27-member bloc, unlocking a major market for the country’s expanding aquaculture industry.
The approval, under the EU’s revised public health list of approved countries, allows Uganda to export up to 4,000 metric tons of farmed fish annually to the European market. The decision follows the submission of a national control plan demonstrating compliance with the bloc’s stringent sanitary and food safety standards.
