Safaricom and KCB Partner to Offer $241 Million in Overdrafts to Merchants

  • Retail merchants using Safaricom Lipa na Mpesa accessed $241 million in overdrafts, thanks to a partnership with KCB Group.
  • The new Merchant Overdraft product allows small businesses to access unsecured credit to manage cash flow shortfalls.

 

Nairobi, Kenya – Retail merchants using the Safaricom Lipa na Mpesa mobile payment platform have accessed $241 million (Kes32 billion) in overdrafts valued along their cash flow, as KCB Group and Safaricom partner to enhance last-mile digital visibility.
