Namibia trade deficit narrows sharply as imports plunge, exports rise

  • Imports fell nearly 23%, easing pressure on Namibia’s trade balance
  • Exports jumped on diamonds, fish and base metals

 

WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA – Namibia’s trade deficit narrowed sharply to N$393 million in December as imports plunged and exports rose, official data showed Wednesday.

Data from the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) showed the trade balance with the rest of the world improved significantly from the N$4.4 billion deficit recorded in November.
