  • Africa records highest airline accident rate globally
  • Runway incidents dominate aviation safety risks

 

NAIROBI, KENYA – Africa recorded the world’s highest airline accident rate in 2025, despite overall improvements in global aviation safety, the International Air Transport Association said.

The industry body reported seven accidents across the continent last year, placing Africa ahead of other regions even as global accident rates declined.
