- Annual inflation rises to 3.2% from 3.1% in January
- Higher food and household energy costs drive the increase
Tanzania’s annual inflation rate rose slightly in February, reaching 3.2% from 3.1% in January, according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released Monday by the National Bureau of Statistics. The increase was driven by rising prices of staples and key food items, including rice, finger millet grains, sorghum flour, maize flour, groundnuts, vegetables, and dried beans. Non-food costs also climbed, particularly in clothing and footwear, household energy and fuel, transport, education, and health services.
