Uganda misses revenue target as spending pressures mount despite growth

KAMPALA, UGANDAUganda missed its domestic revenue target in the first half of the 2025/26 fiscal year, underscoring persistent budget pressures despite strengthening economic activity.

Uganda’s domestic revenue collections between July and December 2025 reached UGX 16.877 trillion ($4.44 bn), falling short of the UGX 17.931 trillion ($4.72 bn) target, the Ministry of Finance said. The shortfall of UGX 1.053 trillion ($277 mn) comes midway through the financial year ending June 30, 2026.
