- DP World-backed Cap Lopez LNG due online in 2027
LIBREVILLE, GABON – Gabon is turning to DP World to monetise natural gas long flared at oil fields, backing a liquefied natural gas project due to start operations in 2027, people familiar with the plans said.
The project centres on Cap Lopez, Gabon’s main Atlantic oil terminal, where DP World’s shipyard arm, Drydocks World, is converting an existing LNG carrier into a floating storage unit, or FSU. The unit will anchor offshore gas processing and exports, allowing Gabon to capture volumes that have historically been burned off during oil production.
