Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique Sign Rail Deal for Coal Exports

  • Agreement aims to boost coal exports with revamped rail lines and a new deep-sea port
  • Project supported by AfDB funding and targets regional export needs

Botswana has signed an agreement with Zimbabwe and Mozambique to develop a rail line that will facilitate coal exports through the two southern African countries. The agreement was signed in Maputo, Mozambique’s capital, by Zimbabwe’s Emerson Mnangagwa, Botswana’s Mokgeetsi Masisi, and Mozambique’s President Felix Nyusi.
