KAMPALA, UGANDA – Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, remains in hiding days after President Yoweri Museveni was declared the winner of Uganda’s presidential election.

President Museveni was announced as the victor of the Jan. 15 poll with 7,946,772 votes, or 71.65% of ballots cast, securing a seventh five-year term in office. Kyagulanyi, his main challenger, received 2,741,238 votes, or 24.72%, according to the Electoral Commission. Voter turnout was put at 52.5% of Uganda’s 21.6 million registered voters, with 275,353 ballots recorded as invalid.
