Senegal Schedules Presidential Election, Calming Political Tensions

  • Presidential election set for March 24 following court intervention.
  • Cabinet overhaul aims to steady nation before vote.

Senegal’s presidential election, initially set for February 25 and subsequently postponed, has been officially rescheduled for march 24. This development came after Senegal’s government Wednesday announcement, marking an end to weeks of political turmoil and violent protests demanding an immediate vote. The delay, triggered by president Macky Sall, plunged Senegal into one of its most severe crises in decades, challenging the fabric of its democracy.
