Nigeria to Begin Crude Oil Sales in Naira to Local Refineries Starting October

Lagos, Nigeria – Nigeria will commence the sale of crude oil in its local currency, the naira, to the Dangote Refinery and other domestic refineries starting on October 1, 2024, the government announced Monday. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, disclosed the plan during a meeting with the implementing committee in Abuja.
