Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria has filed treason charges, punishable by death, against ten individuals arrested during nationwide protests last month over soaring living costs. The accused face charges including treason and inciting military mutiny, both capital offences. They pleaded not guilty before Justice Emeka Nwite at the Federal High Court in Abuja today, who scheduled a bail hearing for September 11 and ordered their detention.
