Namibia’s Inflation Cools in February Amid Lower Transport and Alcohol Costs

  • Annual inflation slows to 3.6% from 5.0% a year earlier
  • Urban households still bear the brunt of price pressures

Consumer price pressures in Namibia eased in February as the country’s Consumer Price Index (NCPI) fell to 3.6%, down from 5.0% in February 2024, according to data released Thursday by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA). The slowdown was driven by falling transport and alcohol prices, as well as stable costs for fuel, electricity, gas, clothing, footwear, and household items. These declines helped offset increases in staples like bread, cereals, meat, and fruit.
