Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – Côte d’Ivoire has raised the guaranteed farmgate price for cocoa farmers to 2,200 CFA francs per kilogram (about $3.67) for the 2024–2025 mid-crop season, marking a 22.2% increase from the previous rate of 1,800 CFA francs. The move, which follows record global prices for cocoa and comes just six months ahead of presidential elections, is likely to provide relief for producers but has triggered concerns over fiscal discipline.
