Burkina Faso Takes Partial Control of Major Gold Mines Amidst Insecurity

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – Amidst ongoing insecurity, Burkina Faso is asserting partial control over its mining resources, with the transitional government signing an agreement on August 26 to acquire two major gold mining sites from Lilium Mining and Endeavour Mining. The Boungou site, located in eastern Burkina Faso, and the Wahgnion site in the southwest, are now under government ownership.
