Mining companies operating in Mozambique have experienced a surge in attacks since the nationwide unrest that followed the disputed general elections, according to GardaWorld, a Canadian security risk company. Between October and December, six foreign mining operations were attacked by mobs and other assailants, causing injuries and operational disruptions, GardaWorld stated in a January 22 intelligence report on its Crisis 24 platform.
