Burkina Faso Adjusts 2024 Budget Amid Revenue Shortfalls and Spending Cuts

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – Burkina Faso has made significant adjustments to its 2024 budget, affecting both public expenditure and revenue. Key revenue cancellations were approved by the transitional deputies, including over 2 billion FCFA in non-tax revenues and 100 billion FCFA in tax revenues. On the expenditure side, budgetary regulation led to a reduction of 187 billion FCFA. A major part of these cuts included 14.3 billion FCFA in cancelled donations, projects, and bequests, reflecting adjustments linked to the transfer of certain projects between ministries.
