Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the regulator of the country’s telecom sector, ordered telecommunication companies Monday to unbar mobile telephone lines that were disconnected over the weekend. This directive came in response to uncontrollable crowds at telecom service centres and growing unrest ahead of a planned 10-day nationwide protest set to start on Thursday, August 1, over economic hardship.
