Abuja, Nigeria – Nigerian cocoa farmers are actively rehabilitating old cocoa farms and planting new ones, driven by the surge in global cocoa prices, according to an industry body.
“Most cocoa farmers are taking advantage of the current spike in the world cocoa prices to increase maintenance activities in their farms through rehabilitation of old and abandoned cocoa farms and commencement of new plantings,” said Segun Awolumate, chairman of the Ondo State Cocoa Council, which includes farmers, traders, and processors.
