Tanzania deploys high-tech airborne surveys to deepen mining push

• Airborne system to map half of Tanzania by 2030
• Barrick backs deep exploration with $38.5m investment

DODOMA, TANZANIA – Tanzania has launched an advanced airborne mineral exploration system, marking a major step in its push to deepen mining activity and position itself as a competitive global minerals destination.

The system, officially launched by Anthony Mavunde, will support deep mineral exploration across up to 50% of the country by 2030 under Tanzania’s Minerals Vision 2030 strategy. The project is being implemented in partnership with Barrick Gold, one of the country’s largest mining investors.
