LAGOS, NIGERIANigeria has begun operations at a high-purity gold refining plant in Lagos, signalling a strategic push to capture more value from its mineral wealth and reduce reliance on raw commodity exports.

The Federal Government confirmed the development in a statement issued by Segun Tomori, media aide to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, describing the facility as a milestone in Nigeria’s ambition to become a leading minerals processing hub in Africa.
