  • Food costs drove December price gains across major cities
  • Inflation stays moderate despite weak growth and rising debt

 

MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUEMozambique closed 2025 with a modest uptick in consumer prices in December, driven mainly by food costs, according to official data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Consumer prices rose 0.49% in December from the previous month, pushing cumulative inflation for the full year to 3.23%, the statistics agency said. Average inflation over the past 12 months stood at 4.37%, according to INE’s consumer price index report released on Monday.
