KIGALI, RWANDA – Rwanda’s mining and quarrying output rose 4.1% in 2025, driven by a policy shift from artisanal mining to modernised, regulated operations, official data shows.

Figures released by the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) show the mining sector accounted for 15.8% of total industrial output in 2025, underlining its growing weight in the economy. By November, the sector had expanded by an average of 6.2%, reflecting sustained momentum through the year.
