DAKAR, SENEGAL – Senegal’s extractive industries delivered a record windfall in 2024, with revenues rising 23% to nearly 456 billion CFA francs ($820mn), according to the latest transparency data.
Total receipts climbed from 346.2 billion CFA francs ($622mn) in 2023 to about 456 billion CFA francs in 2024, marking a sharp acceleration for a sector increasingly central to the West African nation’s growth strategy. More than 435 billion CFA francs ($782mn) of that amount was transferred directly into the state budget, strengthening public finances and sharpening debate over how best to deploy the gains for national development.
