ACCRA, GHANAGhana has repealed its 1% COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy after President John Dramani Mahama signed the repeal bill into law on Wednesday.

The COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Repeal Act, 2025 abolishes the levy on goods, services and imports, which had been in place since 31 March 2021. The move follows Parliament’s approval last month and forms part of the government’s push to eliminate what it calls nuisance taxes and ease pressure on households and businesses.
