Mozambique cuts rate to 10.25% as inflation stays low

  • Domestic debt climbs above 100% of GDP, fuelling concerns over fiscal sustainability
  • Inflation edged up to 4.2% in June from 4.0% in May

 

MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE – Mozambique’s central bank has cut its key interest rate by 75 basis points to 10.25%, continuing a monetary easing cycle aimed at supporting growth despite mounting concerns over the country’s rising public debt.
