PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICASouth Africa’s mining sector closed 2025 with output barely growing but revenues soaring, highlighting a sharp disconnect between production and global commodity prices.

Statistics South Africa data show overall mining production rose just 0.1% year-on-year. Yet mineral sales at current prices climbed 7.3%, powered by a staggering 270% increase in gold sales.
