Mozambique banks on LNG to ease budget strain

  • Coral Sul LNG project expected to generate $237m over three years
  • Government aims to reduce borrowing and restore investor confidence

Mozambique expects to earn an average of 4.95 billion meticais ($79.16 million) annually from its Coral Sul floating LNG project between 2025 and 2027, generating a total of roughly $237.5 million over the three-year period. The projections are included in the government’s proposed 2025 Economic and Social Plan and State Budget (PESOE), which is awaiting parliamentary approval.
