Nigeria Strikes New Deal to Expand Oil and Gas Shipping

Lagos, Nigeria – Nigeria’s state oil company is making a fresh push into the maritime sector with a joint venture designed to elevate its shipping operations to global standards. The shipping arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has teamed up with Stena Bulk, a Sweden-based tanker giant, and Lagos-based offshore logistics firm Caverton Marine Limited. The agreement, announced Tuesday, is aimed at strengthening crude and refined product transport, boosting Nigeria’s refining capacity, and creating a competitive logistics business that could rival international players.
