 Nairobi, Kenya – Kenya’s parliament voted to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday, after an intense, day-long debate that highlights the growing political rift between him and President William Ruto. In a decisive move, 281 lawmakers—86% of the house—voted in favor of the ouster, surpassing the required two-thirds threshold of 233 votes. Forty-four MPs voted against the motion, while one abstained.
