ABUJA, NIGERIA – The United States has carried out airstrikes against terrorist targets in northwestern Nigeria, highlighting an intensifying security partnership between Washington and Abuja amid persistent extremist violence.

President Donald Trump announced the operation late Thursday, saying US forces struck militants operating in Nigeria’s North West, an area increasingly affected by armed groups seeking territorial control.
