Zambia’s Copper Output Rises 12% in 2024 as Mining Investments Surge

Lusaka, Zambia – Zambia recorded a 12% increase in copper production in 2024, reaching 820,676 tonnes, driven by strong contributions from Canadian mining giants First Quantum Minerals (FQM) and Barrick Gold Corporation’s subsidiaries. The surge occurred despite power supply challenges, Mines and Mineral Development Minister Paul Kabuswe said at a press briefing in Lusaka on Wednesday.
