Nigerian Government Grants Off-Grid Power Licenses to Telcom Giants

  • Licenses issued for 109.69 MW of off-grid electricity generation across Nigeria

Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigerian government has issued off-grid generation licenses to telecom giant MTN Communications Nigeria Limited and eight other companies, enabling them to generate a total of 109.69 MW of off-grid electricity. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) reported that these licenses, granted in the first quarter of the year, were issued to companies including Golden Penny Power Limited, Havenhill Synergy, and others focused on mini-grid electricity generation.
