KINSHASA, CONGO – The Democratic Republic of Congo has launched its first pilot gold refinery in Kalemie, marking a significant step toward strengthening transparency and value addition in the country’s vast mining sector.

The facility, located in Tanganyika Province, has a monthly refining capacity of between 500 and 600 kilograms and produces bullion with 99.9% purity, according to officials overseeing the project.
